Bolder Rules

Unfortunately every gym has rules, however they are in place to ensure everyone can safely climb and feel comfortable in the gym. Please be respectful of the rules so everyone can enjoy their time bouldering at Bolder Climbing Community.

Bouldering Rules

  • No bouldering beyond marked bouldering holds.
  • Boulder within your personal limits.
  • No personal belongings or climbing equipment on bouldering mats.
  • Do not sit or stand on any part of the pads when you are not climbing – these are all fall zones.
  • Be aware of climbers above and around you.
  • Do not climb on top of boulders.
  • No glass in climbing area.
  • No adjustments to walls or climbing holds.  Please ask for assistance from a staff member if a hold has spun, shifted, or become compromised on the wall. 
  • Training equipment must remain in training area.
  • Only authorized personnel may coach or train others at Bolder Climbing Community
  • No children under the age of 10 allowed in the training area
  • No food or beverages on the climbing pads or padded seating cubbies. Water is allowed in the main climbing area.
  • No climbing under the influence of alcohol or drugs, staff may ask anyone believed to be under the influence to leave immediately at their discretion. 
  • Do not wear rings or loose jewelry while climbing.

Facility Rules

  • All guests must check in prior to entry, including those who are not participating but are accompanying others into the climbing area.
  • Anyone entering and using the facility must sign a waiver; minors must have a parent/legal guardian read and sign the waiver.
  • Shirts and indoor shoes must be worn at all times.
  • Fire exits must be left clear.
  • Personal belongings must be kept in designated areas.
  • No running or roughhousing.
  • Remove outdoor shoes at the door.

Liability and Waiver

Everyone must sign a waiver form before climbing. This can be done in person or online to speed up the process.

Under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign the waiver form in person. This can be done online or in person on site.

What is bouldering?

Bouldering is a very accessible form of the sport of climbing, in that all you need is climbing shoes, some chalk and yourself! If you don’t have shoes or chalk no problem. We’ve got you covered with shoes and chalk rentals. Climbing is a physical and movement based sport.

What do I need to bring?

Athletic clothing is all you need. We have climbing shoes and chalk for rent.

How do I get there?

We are a 7 minute walk north of the Chinook C-Train Station. We have ample parking too if you would like to drive.

Can I bring my kids?

Yes! We encourage all families to come in and enjoy our climbing facility. There is no better way to spend a day with your family than challenging yourselves mentally and physically.

On Tuesdays we have a Parent and Tot Climb from 9am-1pm with a play-pen set up in the main climbing area for the kids. This often creates a good opportunity for parents to get a climb in while taking turns with other parents to monitor the kids in the play-pen.  Please note that there is no supervision provided by Bolder for children during this time. 

We also encourage you to climb together with your kids for a session, however we do ask that parents and children take turns on the wall, meaning if the parent is climbing on the wall, the child is waiting on the floor off of the mats, and if the child is climbing on the wall, the parent is actively supervising and not climbing themselves.

All youth must have a parent or legal guardian to sign the waiver form prior to entry.

All youth under the age of 12 must have adult supervision at all times.  We ask that there is one adult per every 2 children for supervision. No running or roughhousing. Children are not permitted to play in bouldering area. Children under 10 are not permitted in the training area.
