Bolder is thrilled to host another Indigenous Climbing Night! We are welcoming Indigenous folks of all ages to join us for a night of climbing here at Bolder with host Krissy Blakney free of charge on Friday, September 23rd from 6-8pm.
To many climbers the mountains are a place we hold very near and dear to our hearts, and we cannot fully respect these lands without acknowledging that they, along with the land our gym resides on, belong to the traditional Treaty 7 Territory of the Blackfoot confederacy, including the Siksika, Kainai, Piikani, Îyâxe Nakoda, and Tsuut’ina nations.
It is our goal to work towards bridging the gap in access to climbing for Indigenous communities and individuals, so we are hosting this night in an effort to bring together those who would like to try climbing who may not have the means to easily do so. We know trying any new activity can be intimidating, so we hope that having a group night led by community climbers and coaches will help to ease any anxiety.
Whether you have never tried climbing before or are a regular, all are welcome! There are 40 spots available, and we ask that you please register in advance using the link below so we can plan accordingly. There will be some light refreshments provided as well, with some time for mingling before and after climbing!
PS – the gym will remain open to the general public during this event.
There is no cost associated with this event for any Indigenous folks; admission and rental gear is on us!
